I just wanted to wish everyone of you a very Happy Thanksgiving.
I personally am thankful for all of the wonderful members of the
Alford Memorial Radio Club and our Amateur Radio Community here in Georgia.
All of you are a blessing in my life and every one of you have made an impact
on my life in your own way, and I thank you for that.
I wanted to remind you of several upcoming events.
The first event is December 2nd from 6:30am until 12:00noon. This is the
annual Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Festival of Trees Christmas parade.
If you have never been a part of a huge parade, then now is your chance to
help out. All that is needed is your handie talkie with earphone, a warm
coat , and a few hours of time. Contact Tim Rosing at KC4ELV at etoii.com
Tim will email you all of the information about the event. Working this parade
is a great way tostart your Holiday season.
The second event is December 14 from 7:00 till whenever. The Alford Memorial
Radio Club Christmas party will be held at Annistown Baptist Church
Fellowship Hall (around at the back of the church). Be sure to bring your
wrapped packages for our two Holiday Families along with any canned food you
might want to donate. This is always a great event.
The third event is Saturday, January 13, 2007... Yes, that is next year...
TechFest was first tested 9 years ago when Kevin Berry, KF4RMA expressed
interest in an event who's primary function was to expose members of the
community to the many facets of Amateur Radio. Unlike Field day, this is not
a contest or race. It is a chance to experience parts of our hobby that we
might never have seen. It's a chance to hear the truth about radios and
antennas, without the flashy spin that a salesperson might put on it. It is
an event that encourages the free exchange of ideas and knowledge.
The TechFest will be held at St Marguerite D'Youville Church
85 Gloster Rd NW, Lawrenceville, GA 30044. Just off Highway 29 SW of
Lawrenceville.
I look forward to seeing all of you at these events over the next month.
Bring your Family, Friends and Neighbors and enjoy Amateur Radio at it's very
finest.
