Site & history.
The Alford Memorial 220 repeater was originally put on the air in 1992 for use by Novice operators who did not have privileges on the 2-meter band. The original site was at Memorial Drive and I-285, with the antenna mounted at about 70 feet. On April 21, 2002 the repeater moved to its present home at the Exchange Park tower, where the antenna sits at the 325-foot level. The 1.25 m band remains one of the least crowded allocations in the metro area.
